When Freedom's preschool said they were having a cowboy & western themed dress-up day at school, naturally I felt I had to sew him up a quick lil Woody inspired sheriff's vest & Lone Ranger mask to wear. I used the basic ideas from this awesome free
Leila & Ben tutorial to make his little vest. I was so thrilled to have just enough cow print fabric, in a bag of fabric scraps a friend had given me awhile ago, that I'd been saving & wondering what I'd use it for. There was exactly enough to do the front & back panels in cow print. I then used a piece of denim like fabric for the inside back lining & some yellow fabric, I had in my own stash, for the inside front panels. It turned out really cute, IMO.

I love how much his dollar store foam Stetson cowboy hat looks real. It resembled his daddy's real Stetson so much. We grabbed the holster, sheriff's badge and hat for a buck each. The adorable cowboy boots were borrowed from a friend. The bandana was one of mommy's & he wore his own shirt & jeans. The whole lil charro ensemble cost us $3 & a little of mommy's time. Not bad for last minute cowboy gear! He wouldn't let me snap a photo of him without his Lone Ranger inspired mask on & he's worn the boots all day since receiving them, loves them. He even threw them on over his jammies first thing in the morning.
Oh & his preschool teacher said he kept the hat & mask on most the morning. Such a trooper this kid!
